Mazinger Z (マジンガーZ) is the most famous Japanese super robot. (Manga and anime written and illustrated by Go Nagai from 1972 on). It was not the first big robot, that was Tetsujin-28, but it is the first to be piloted by a human from inside. Great Mazinger (グレートマジンガー 1974) is the sequel and direct continuation of the Mazinger Z series after the robot is destructed in the last part of the story.
